Finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024).
After a year of playing, I've finally finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard. I've played all of the Dragon Age games and enjoyed them all. Origins, Awakening, and DA2 I breezed through. Inquisition had a false start but when I revisited it a few years later I loved it. I played Veilguard kind of mixed. A big initial thrust that saw me play almost to the end. Then a long break because I didn't want it to end. And then finally wrapping it up a year later. I enjoyed the combat but I definitely missed the more tactical play of the previous games.
I loved this game. The companions were all amazing. This might be the best set of companions in a Bioware game, certainly in recent memory. I played a rogue, focused on archery and a veil jumper. As a rogue, Davrin and Bellara were my goto companions. But Neve and Taash were my backups. Harding and Lucanis as rogues were hard to fit in. I like Emmerich's story but he was mostly squeezed out because I was romancing Bellara. Maybe a follow-up playthrough sometime as a warrior to allow me to see Emmerich and the rogues.
As a closing entry, I thought it was very good. I still hope we get more entries and see other parts of the Thedas. I'm disappointed we didn't see the Hero of Ferelden or the Champion of Kirkwall. But I understand their absences. I'm glad we got to see the Inquisitor.
